Irene Dei Tos
While in the group, Irene investigated the synthesis and electronic properties of Sb2Se3 and related chalcogenide materials with the support of an Erasmus Fellowship for Exchange Mobility.
She is currently a FWO PhD fellow researcher
Irene Dei Tos joined Imec in September 2022. She is a PhD researcher in Engineering Technology at the University of Hasselt and has recently obtained the status of FWO fellow researcher in fundamental studies. Her PhD focuses on the development of binary antimony chalcogenides and integration in tandem systems for the conversion of CO2 to valuable fuels.
Prior to this, Irene pursued an internship at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory LBNL, USA working on binary chalcogenide materials for solar cells and photo-electrocatalysis systems, forming part of the Liquid Sun Alliance (LiSA) program.
Irene completed her M.Sc thesis with great distinction and with highest grade, i.e. 110/110 at Università Milano-Bicocca (Milan). During her M.Sc studies, she was awarded a scholarship for an extra-curriculum six-month Erasmus-internship as a junior researcher in the prestigious Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory LBNL, USA. After her graduation, she eventually extended her stay in LBNL for another four months for pre-doctoral research. Additionally, she has been found eligible for a startup/entrepreneurship program at Bocconi University (Milan).
